August is a particularly special month for us Pakistanis. With every city decorated elaborately in green and white, the days leading up to August 14th- Pakistan’s Independence Day- have an air of pride, unity and celebration. The national flag is raised in all sizes on commercial buildings, iconic landmarks and in private balconies. Local markets stock up on patriotic merchandise, while bright lights illuminate the streets.
However, as the nation marks its 76th year of freedom, something feels different. The festivity comes with a sense of accountability and the realisation to do more. Let us begin with reflecting, recognising our own individual responsibilities, and honouring the contributions of our heroes; those we must follow in the footsteps of. There’s no denying that our country is our true identity and the people who’ve played crucial parts in its growth are valuable assets.
From those who made independence possible, to those protecting our borders, to the martyrs of our homeland and each person working honestly in their fields – team mindful pays tribute to the significant contributions of all through the August cover. While it was impossible to add each and every iconic name due to limitations of space, this is a small effort to show our gratitude. The integrity, hard work and selflessness of our heroes is what continues to keep our motherland on its feet and we are forever indebted.
We hope this new issue helps renew the energy and patriotism of our readers, while also inspiring them to work towards Pakistan’s growth.
